Job Description My client are a Corporate/Retail Bank in the heart of the City which offer a diversified range of banking activites and services throughout MENA.Due to continued growth they are now looking to hire a Deputy Credit Manager.

Job Purpose: To act as a source of expertise in assisting the Risk Manager to evaluate and recommend acceptable risk levels across all bank activities and to specifically to work on Operational Risk Management issues


Main Responsibilities

To assist the Risk Manager with the following tasks

1.To interact with all areas of the Bank in order to assist with assessment and management of Operational Risk issues

2.To work with the Business Development team to provide timely assessment of credit risk. Analyse credit applications and make recommendations to Credit Committees and Board.

3.Monitor and control credit exposures to ensure compliance with authorisations and limits

4.Monitor collateral and security values

5.Implement and maintain adequate procedures, forms, spreadsheets, registers, files and storage to ensure all appropriate records are maintained and security documents are safely stored.

6.Ensure static data held within bank mainframe system is correct – facility limits, review and expiry dates

7.Prepare facility documentation and security.

8.Liaise with solicitors (where necessary) to perfect security

9.To work closely with “watchlist” and recovery accounts to attempt to maximise the position of the Bank.

10.Liaise with various departments throughout the Bank to instil a “risk aware” culture throughout the Bank

11.To manage and train staff in all areas of credit – analysis, facility documentation, security perfection, exposure monitoring etc.

12.To maintain contact with fellow professionals in the banking

Experience and Skills required

Proven ability and sound knowledge of operational risk management along with a broad understanding of all matters relating to Credit.

A good grounding in Trade Finance is essential.

Excellent communication skills.

Good analytical reasoning skills, being able to assess thoroughly credit proposals.

Able to act on own initiative, and follow through enquiries with relevant departments


Types of transactions being handled by the Bank

-Trade Finance Facilities to African Financial Institutions – providing L/C confirmation, advising, issuance of IRUs, Guarantees, Standby L/Cs, refinancing etc.

-Structured Trade Finance transactions for Corporate entities

-Non-regulated property lending – UK buy-to-let – Overseas investment

-Participation in syndicated lending to Financial Institutions

-Purchase of “bank paper” on the secondary market

-Secured Corporate lending

-Secured Personal lending
